october is one of my favorite months of the year - between decorating for fall and halloween, being able to unabashedly drink, eat and burn all things pumpkin flavored, celebrating our wedding anniversary, and generally kicking off the festive holiday season, october is just the best.

weekend out west
i debated whether or not to file this under "travels" or "valley life", and although i could be wrong i think del rio is technically outside of rgv. thanks to some friends we were given the opportunity to get in a little more ranch time out in west texas!
with stops at the val verde winery (the oldest continuously operating winery in texas) and traipsing around the ranch, we can see why people are so passionate about this state. while maintaining land for hunting is a good amount of work, there are few places more beautiful to spend your time.
